I had been thinking about repeating the Arcata Ridge Trail Yo-Yo and when I saw that the ART was going to be closed starting June 2nd, I decided to go for it. Almost two years ago, I thought this would be a cool addition to the FKT routes and was delighted when the route suggestion was approved.
I first hiked the ART Yo-Yo on July 7, 2023 with a time of 3 hours and 6 minutes. This wasn’t a speed or fast attempt – just out for a hike. On June 1, 2025 I made more of a speed effort and hiked it in 2 hours and 38 minutes. I hiked with just trekking poles and no other gear. It was a nice foggy and cool morning.
