These additions bring my starting baseweight up to 14.5 lbs.
I usually carry drops to purify water. But some of the pictures I’ve seen from the CDT have shown some pretty gnarly water. Having a sawyer squeeze filter will allow me to have the option of filtering out some of the muck. If I’m not using it I will send it home. Or, it might just become one of my favorite pieces of gear. I filtered some dirty spring water from here at home and I am incredibly impressed!
Another nice thing about catching the CDTC border shuttle in Lordsburg, NM and returning to that location from the Mexico border is that I don’t have to carry several pieces of my gear. I’ll be leaving behind nearly a pound of gear in Lordsburg like my town clothes and rain gear. So leaving from the Mexican border my baseweight will be near 13 lbs.
